I guess I see events somewhat different from you Art. As opposed to the isolated, go it alone "Tonkin" event you mentioned, I believe a worldwide coalition is evolving and this includes Muslim countries. I do believe that "behind the scenes" discussion with many Muslim countries and their governments is supportive but outright "in your face" support cannot be declared because of internal politics and religion. I believe the US and other Western nations including China and Russia understand this. Indeed, they themselves have to play the " let's do it but we can't tell anyone" game. This "off the record" co-operaton scenario has been alluded to quite openly by Colin Powell in his interviews. It's a five to ten year war. Presumably after some initial muscle flexing the "war" will settle down to some serious collaborative collusion and covertness. As success at rooting out cells is achieved it stands to reason that successful results will evolve exponentially. This should further allow threatened governments ( those who are terrorized by their own resident terrorists) to come out from under their cloaks and deal more openly and aggressively with their own internal politics and enlightenment I would think.
