I noticed that, and it was perhaps the worst defect in the speech. I hope he does something to rectify it. A lot was on his plate......

I noticed that too.... I hope he corrects the omission, unless he knows something we do not....

He wasn't speaking TO Canadians he was speaking FOR Canadians.

yet the President does not mention Canada as a friend in last night's speech.

I hope the Canadians don't take that as a slight from the President or the U.S. The speech was to let us and the world know what's going on. He graciously thanked our biggest ally, Great Britain and he thanked Giuliani/Pataki. Both very good moves imo.

There will be other speeches where our friends get their due, but if Canada gets too upset about the ommission they are being a bit thin skinned imo. We will not forget anyone who helps us, but there was not time to thank all that will or are helping us.

Interesting comments, but not a fault in the speech.

Canadians are our brothers and sisters. We wouldn't dream of slighting them. They are like an appendage to our bodies and we would be there in the time span of a breath to defend them whenever, wherever, whatever.

Perhaps an over reaction.

Major (a head of state - not a foreign minister) was in attendance. I believe it was protocol to mention them and their support due to this.

Canada was not being slighted... Nor is New Zealand or Australia - who immediately offered unconditional military assistance.
