Actually, this kind of temporary injection is likely to be reversed in fairly short order. Remember, there were major disruptions to payment settlements last week. BoNY alone amounted to a $100 billion clog in the pipes (or to use your analogy, the arteries). It is absurd to view such an injection on an annualized basis and raise alarm over "a 40% increase in the money supply".
