Until the next terrorist outrage??

I'm not downplaying ANY terrorist act against a US installation, or citizens. And the fact that innocent people from 80 different nations died in the WTC attack, as well as those hundreds of non-US citizens who died in the African bombings, states clearly that we're carrying this retaliation out on the behalf of the entire world.

And Clinton was a fool... He was the Jimmie Carter of the '90s, with regard to his underwhelming and misguided acts of retaliation (especially since they were concurrent with MonicaGate). It was Clinton's administration that refused to deploy heavy armor to Somalia to perform as a rapid reaction force.

If there's anything that should always be associated with military action, it should be "P" for plenty, and that there is no such thing as "equitable retaliation" when it comes to securing the lives of your citizens around the world. If they threaten you with a knife, shoot them with a machine gun.

And Gustave... there will be terrorism whether we do something or not...

But the threat of that terrorism will be even greater if the US doesn't undertake every effort to root these guys out and make them more concerned with their own self-preservation, than carrying out attacks upon the US.

L'Audace, L'Audace.. Toujour L'Audace..

Gus, aside the fact that you need a shrink for the conspiracy theory you are basically right..."civilized world's crusade against barbarians" ...That is the confrontation has crystallised along the very same line ..no more West against East....or communist China, not even North Korea
The Islamic World is an official enemy of the civilization, the entire process would end with first taking over oil fields and second with massive infusion of money into the alternative fuel, basicaly Islamic World is not going to recover from this...

The Northern Alliance suffered a major blow last week when two suicide assassins posing as Arab journalists fatally wounded military commander General Ahmad Shah Masood.

The next day hijackers seized four aircraft in the United States and flew three of them in suicide attacks on the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon (news - web sites) in Washington.

Bin Laden has been linked to both plots.

Uzbek leader General Dostum, meanwhile, had concentrated a huge force in the north, his aides said. The Alliance's military attach said the aim of the offensive was to seize Mazar-i-Sharif.

Dostum rose through the ranks of the Afghan army after the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in 1979 and switched sides several times as the country's government changed.

In 1998, Dostum had to flee Afghanistan after Taliban forces took over territories in the north populated by ethnic Uzbeks. Earlier this year he joined the Northern Alliance
