I should have said, that POWERFUL evil forces are not on a par, therefore represent no terminal metaphysical risk (only a delay to one's karmic rise). Therefore, the notion of an eternal Absolute Evil, ala Lucifer or Satan, doesn't really exist. Suffering is eternal, however, and represents the real enemy of humanity. This is more to Greg's point as to why the Dalai Lama didn't mention "evil". Frequently what people understand to be "evil" behavior is understood by Tibetan Buddhists as a direct result of not being in touch with Buddha's compassion (as opposed to being an occupying force vis-a-vis possession or influence of Satan.)
