Louis - I'm always skeptical about such things being the true reason behind sentiment shifts. However, in this case, I don't think GE coming out and effectively reminding people that war is good business is inappropriate.

Some people might find that distasteful, but we all know about the military-industrial complex and how it works. Some people may have slept through their "guns or butter" lectures but I sure didn't.

What the apparently untrusted statesmen have been saying is correct - we'll be fine in the end. However, I think that "fine" means after having turned over the Dow float to new holders, and at prices of their choosing.

I only wish I cocktailed in such circles so I could get a better sense of where their line in the sand is.
