I'm not going to get into a pissing match about discretionary vs systems trading. Besides I already have over 150,000 words out there on the subject. Most of them disagree strongly with your point of view.

Some folks use patterns to trade. Obviously, it's difficult to test pattern trading rigously, but if the patterns are so difficult write code for, then who is to say two people will recognize the same pattern on a particular chart.

That, IMHO, is why those patterns work.
