I disagree... Saddam is not an Islamic hero
he is an Arab warrior hero

we may make tradeoffs with the Arab leaders among reasonable nations
Arabs will want something
West will want Saddam's head on a stake
I think Arabs will give up Saddam, since they regard him as a territorial threat

case in point, Kuwait
Saddam showed zero respect for Arabs, sealing his fate
his list of Arab enemies is legion:
Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Kurds, most Emirate nations along the Persian Gulf
plus Iran (non-Arabic)

Saddam is defiant and violent and ruthless, but not intelligent
he failed in building alliances
instead he chose to build war armaments
