Amy, excellent post. Just one comment: <This may be completely incorrect, but I tend to believe that terrorists pluck hopeless victims and give them some type of strength or purpose they previously lacked.> This is exactly how cults build up their membership. You can read any book on any cult and see this described in detail, including first-hand accounts of former cult members. I fully believe that the Taliban is one such cult, though a powerful one. Their job has been made easy by the suffering of the people in the countries they have influence over. Tenchusatsu
