Mubarak trying to leverage himself to receive a bigger piece of the US foreign aid pie??

As far as I understand, he despises Hussein.. so this would seem to declare..

"US.. if you want my support, show me the $$$$... and to up the anty for good measure, I'm going to make "nice-nice" with a man we both despise..."

Or could this be an attempt at off-setting the US-Israelis "alliance", placing Israel once more in a geographical and military vise between two of the most powerful states in the region??

I certainly hope it's the former...

And fortunately, most Egytian military equipment is of US manufacture, and thus dependent upon US provided spare parts and ammunition.

Ahem. Didn't I just warn everyone about checking the sources of information? I had never heard of these guys, and the story, or at least the way it's spun, doesn't pass the smell test. So I checked out the website, and sure enough the answer is revealed. This is not a regular news service, but rather a strongly conservative outlet with a distinct point of view (jingoism would be a charitable term for it). I'd be skeptical until I saw confirmation from more reputable news organizations.
