I'd love to see a long interview w. a few of those leaders, like Bin Laden, right about now. Unlike their other battles, I think they are getting the picture that this will be a different battle, with less support from their friends, and even their soldiers. Maybe.

LOL I don't think Len is that bad. There's no doubt that 'you get what you pay for' and some of what the western world has done has resulted in less than satisfactory results. But I think in general we intervene with positive long term outcomes in mind. Problem is, mistakes are made. I don't know if becoming isolationist is the answer in this global world. I tend to feel that we should all as countries be promoting freedom, openness, education, everywhere. Its hard to keep bright people surpressed. But this requires intervention - too many despots out there would prevent progress. So we get these huge wealth and lifestyle imbalances. Not healthy for the world. What to do... difficult question. Closing off for now. Have to accomplish something more constructive or I will be working all weekend. PS, where I disagree with Len is that I think this whole thing is the machinations of a set of very evil minds (not in the biblical sense, the purely human sense) who are bent on dramatically increasing their power over a vast sea of people and numerous countries. Just a theory.
