The Ikwan (Moslem Brotherhood) of Egypt can be considered the original "extremists", having been founded in 1922 (if memory serves correctly). When I was in college I enrolled in a graduate level Political Risk/Intel Analysis course and my project was a comprehensive PR analysis of Egypt and the threat of a "revolution by stealth" by the Ikwan.. (received an A+.. :0) That was over a decade ago, and I was quite surprised that Mubarak has been able to hold them off as long as he has. Maybe things are about to change.. And that's not a positive turn of events given Egypt's population. Hawkmoon
