I don't think it is fair to guage fear by this thread, or any other investment thread. Instead, I am watching many of my coworkers move their 401(k) assets out of stocks, which has been going on all week long. It is impossible to talk to them right now about bottoms, long-term trends, P/Es, or anything else. They want out for now. They talk among themselves and the person who moved on Monday becomes the guru to those who waited until Thursday, because he(she) is 10% better off! So it goes. There is plenty of fear out there. I work in the retirement business and people are finding their retirement plans shattered. Applications for retirement are being withdrawn and paychecks are now golden. There is plenty of fear out there.
