Lived in London during the IRA bombing campaign in the 70's. They let one off in the Christmas season at Harrod's.
Along with their other tricks, bombs in mailboxes, trains, etc, I never ever felt safe again in London after that.
Don't think there's safety anywhere now.

The first WTC bombing didn't keep shoppers from the underground shops, and I doubt if anything the terrorists do will have long-term effect unless they raise stakes. They've shot their wad with overkill, literally, with the WTC, and unless they come at us with NBC weapons, any further attacks will bring temporary disruptions, but the shock value will be gone.
