As that link says, the "insult" part is strictly speculative. It is the first time I ever heard it it. And three dictionaries and two encyclopedias say the words are merely variants of one another.

Is Zulm a capitalized Arabic word meaning an oppressive person, or is it a language containing a word that sounds like Muzlim that means an oppressive person, or what? Sorry to be so dense.
