More Socket A Chipsets Coming [11:31 pm] Rat
Three largest Taiwanese chipset manufacturers, VIA, SiS and ALi, announced today that they are going to increase the manufactured chipset share for Socket A platforms from the current 20% up to 30% by the end of the year. It was pointed out that this market segment grants stable income as the AMD CPUs shipments also proved their stability and the market future of the new i845 is still quite vague (note, no more mention of the i850!). Moreover, Pentium 4 supplies as well as Pentium 4 mainboard supplies are not very reliable so far.
On our part we would like to say that AMD will get these 10% extra at the expense of the Socvket370 platform, which popularity is going down thanks to Intel’s constant efforts.

Milo, Thanks for the interesting trade data. IMO, there was some very heavy short day trading going on last week. Or somebody decided to build a position in the last hour of Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

We'll know in a while what was going on. For now it's just guesses on my part.
