Buddy: You raise a good point. Approval ratings at this stage of the game mean little. The name of the game today is "Rally Behind the President," and the vast majority of Americans are doing just that. And that support is reflected in the approval ratings. Just because a person answers in the positive on an approval-rating question does not mean that person will vote for GWB or whomever two or three years down the road. You're absolutely correct: A second term for GWB will hinge on the economy, not Operation Infinite Justice. Many, many Americans will vote for the next president based on the health of their 401(k) plan.
