Hey maurice,
I knew you'd have an answer :o) I'm aware of many 'alternative' scenarios as I'm looking forward to living out in the boonies and I NEED to be wired because I do agree with you that he net is great.

re: wireless. Still not here really but I agree it will come. My wish is to be out soon on a nice little farm with my satellite net connection ( I guess tv too) (or alternative wireless solution) and fuel cell and photo electric power, totally self sufficient. (no i'm not a survivalist wacko LOL) just like to be off the beaten path will as many amenities as I can have.

Meanwhile, the whole point of the internet was to be independent of geography so that any number of Russian nukes couldn't knock out Arpanet communications.
That's the point but... we get problems all the time when some ditch digger cuts a fibre optic cable. If it's as easy as bird or a misplaced hole to disrupt that much then we need to rethink the security of the infrastructure UNLESS we get that blistering wireless speed for all..... and the sooner the better

regards
have a good weekend maurice
