>Excuse me George... But the Clancy interview related to several of his books where he detailed the use of aircraft as flying bombs...And given that this thread is about a discussion of Foreign Affairs, and more recently how acts of terrorism impact those affairs, I find the posts COMPLETELY topical

Hawkmoon, my post addressed to you about keeping on topic had nothing to do with you! It was just that it was the last one I read, no offense, I was referring to posts like the ones talking about baseball<g> I said so many times lets not take anything so personal<g>

>As for the KLA... they were no more a bunch of "thugs" than were the Serbians who propped up Milosevic (Arkan..etc).. All of those people are involved in one form of criminal enterprise or another because that's what they have to do to make a living, given the lack of more honest work (not making the claim that any of them would "go straight if given the choice)..

If we came out and said all that FINE! But we never say that and instead we keep polluting the airwaves about how we support freedom and democracy and BS like that. We support tyrants and dictators IF it supports our interests (oil and gas mostly). And that is WHY so many people hate us (especially in the Middle East), they despise our hypocricy and double standards. Let's face it, the foreign policy of our government has been quite shameful. So, when Georgie says we will fight against ALL terrorists, he should say all terrorists that threaten our national interests only.

>Iran is on the state terrorism list, but we're seeing Britain paving the way for a reapproachment between Tehran and Washington in coming weeks.

yep, the ever present yo yo in our foreign policy which very often comes back to bite us in the ass.

>Why? Because Iran realizes that they very well could see a Pakistani government fall to the extremists, who would then control nuclear weapons.

No, it is because of our oil companies who are tired of being shut out of the very lucrative deals Iran is putting together. And we will never let Musharraf fail if we pay his price, and I hope we will. You seem to underestimate Musharraf, this guy if he gets what he wants he 'll make Stalin look like Elmo<g>

I would like our great nation to stay steadfast and not bend in our principles. Instead, we look the other way when it suits us. When it comes to the Middle East our policies are the main factor many ordinary and poor Muslims hate us so much (which contributes to the ranks of suicide bombers and adds to supporters of lunatics like Osama).

Well, getting kind of late, got to get up very early tomorrow.

I just hope I don't see more than a 100 posts tomorrow (wishful thinking?)
