I think it was funny, one post that suggested we set up a government in Afghanistan while at the same time supporting the Northern Alliance. Very humurous. They will fight any outside influenced government. I'm wondering what you think of simply allowing the different tribes to set up a combined government? It is what the Taliban apppeard to them to be in the first place. But didn't end up that way. Seems to me we would make the Afghans very happy if we make sure they are allowed to set up a government like this. Each tribal chief will be a representative to their "congress". They could have a Prime Minister who would simply be an employee of the "congress". I don't think there is any way we can ever get these people to have free democratic popular elections. They will stick to their traditions. So lets help them help themselves... BirdDog
