You are the product of the Western Civilization that developed for thousand years in the tenets of Christian religion. There was no similar development in the rest of the world. Muslim countries preserved unchanged for thousand years I don't know quite how to explain this other than to say, you make me feel like a can of Campbell's soup. To say that I am a product, is a very strange choice of words. Maybe if you had said my family has very strong and long roots in the history of the United States, would have made your statement a little more palatable. The development of the United States is separate from the rest of the world. We set up our own Constitution, and these are the words we choose to live by. No other civilization in the world has a Constitution like ours. You might say, we were the guinea pigs...Rome and Greece were similar, but different. Culturally Muslim World is on the level of Europe 13th century (that is when we can trace beginning of anticlerical movements.) We should realize that THEY ARE DIFFERENT. They are very different, but by them coming in with their "fire" and "new wheel", and using "our birds" to blow up our buildings, they are going to have the chance to meet Alla and come back to a modern world that they might fit in and find a bit more pleasant than picking fleas off each other. Instead of spending their money on terrorism, why don't they feed and educate their children, and let the women buy some decent clothes? You'll get no sympathy from me. Until they start using their money for good, I don't want to talk about apples and oranges. I don't think I'd have to ever worry about being sent over there as a diplomat, I might be able to teach them a few things, and pass out a few new books, and because of this, I wouldn't last very long!
