Do you know any links or sites that discuss the effect of raw materials prices on the Australian dollar? I think your argument is correct, but I would like to understand it better. (Such as, which raw materials? Exported where?) It looks to me as if there has been a loss of confidence in the Australian banking system because of its links (through loans) with the gold mining industry there, which seems to have in effect borrowed long on its gold reserves and now can't afford to mine them to pay off the debts.
