Some of the largest and most successful traders in the markets are actually computers, not people.

I don't doubt that, so I must concede I overstated my case. I could probably back peddle it some, but I think the discussion has run past that point so I'll just wipe the egg off my face and move on.

Without giving away any of your trade secrets, I wonder if you would give us some sort of update on your own venture to develop a computerized trading system. Have you succeeded? Are you doing any "hands on" trading anymore, or have you incorporated all you decision making into an automated system?

Eric,

I would add that achieving proficiency in system trading is an art in itself and takes many years of experience to develop a good "portfolio" of systems. If there were any single piece of advice to give, it would be "reductio ad absurdum." Don't optimize, minimize your parameter sets, and look for a confluence of price patterns, e.g.:
