It is against the Law in two democratic countries, Germany and Canada, to discuss the Holocaust.

BS meter pegs the scale...

It is not illegal in Canada to 'discuss' the holocaust. It is illegal to promote hate. The individuals which the Canadian federal government took to court were most certainly promoting hate.

Your bias certainly shows. You added some value to the discussion by challenging people to think, yet your mind is apparently closed.

Too bad.

If we want war criminals, we should have brought Ariel Sharon to justice in the early 80s. He may be a war criminal, but he is our war criminal. So much for Law. <<

It is against the law to discuss the Holocaust in Germany? The only place I have ever seen such an absurd suggestion is on a Neo-Nazi website. Is that where you get your facts?

As a person who both reads and speaks German, and travels there frequently, I know personally that the Holocaust is a subject of constant discussion and debate, and books on the matter sell hundreds of thousands of copies. Books that are not originally in German, are translated into German, and are widely available. This open discussion really began with the early 1970's publication of Deutschland Onhe Juden ("Germany Without Jews"). There was an extraordinary national debate that flowed out of the broadcast of of the Holocaust miniseries in the 80's, and more recently with the publication of Daniel Goldhagen's Hitlers willige Vollstrecker, published in the. U.S. as "Hitler's Willing Executioners". Goldhagen appeared on national German TV (he speaks passable German) and debated the issues raised with German scholars and intellectuals, most of whom disagreed with him strongly. In any event, there is vigorous and open discussion of the Holocaust in Germany, quite obviously. Probably more so than in any other nation. The assertion that none in Canada can discuss the Holocaust is equally wrong and absurd.

As for Sharon, his "crime" is not having had a crystal ball & failing to foresee that one group of Arabs would enter a refugee camp and brutally slaughter hundreds of their fellow Arabs. What indictment shall we draw up for Mr. Sharon?--"Criminal Refusal to Believe and Predict that Arabs would Engage in the Unexpected and Senseless Killings of their Brethren"?

By the way, you never do mention that after Sharon was accused by Time magazine (citing a reliable source) of encouraging the killing of Palestinians, he sued to clear his name in a U.S. court, and won! As was reported at the time:

The jury, in reaching its verdict, said that Time defamed Sharon by falsely reporting that a secret document contained evidence that he encouraged the massacre of Palestinian civilians. The jury decided that the story was false, and severely reprimanded Time for careless methods, and negligence.

He could have lost, if he were wrong. That took guts. Yes, so much for law, as those who hate Jews will never accept anything other a story that paints them as unremittingly evil, and that includes a jury verdict based on the evidence.
