Different from a Stanley knife, Very cheap, crude and simple -they used to use them in places like grocery stores to slit open cartons. They are also carried by gang members and some teenagers as "weapons" in metro areas.

Like a flat metal case holding a single edge blade, which slides in and out of the casing at the push of a button. about 1/8 thick, around 2x4 inches..

I was just reading an article on how knifes not made of metal get on planes all the time. The same kind skin divers use so they do not rust. It also mentioned that airlines are not giving you a plastic knife with your food!

edit just saw Annette's post...the one's I'm describing are the "handy cutters" type..

You can even buy disposable ones in paint stores.
