It's possible - last 4th of July weekend I left on Friday at 2pm, in the worst traffic jam I've seen, and it took 3-1/2 hours. Sacramento is usually 2 hours from San Jose or 1-1/2 hours from San Francisco if you time it right. I hate commuting and keep this to once a week if I can. The trick will be to set up telecommuting and only go into the office for meetings when absolutely necessary. I do that now here in the city but DSL isn't there yet so it'll either be satellite or mwave link, both of which are compromises, but work.
