Dan, Re: "Re: customers didn't want two server processor lines with overlapping gigahertz. Therefore, 2.0GHz Xeon is cancelled"
About as likely as AMD sitting on boatloads of 2.5GHZ hammers but not selling them so their customers don't get "confused."

Is that the same thing as K8 being delayed so that it can "align with AMD's SOI process?"

By the way, what about Intel's large cache Xeon line? I can think of several examples of them not releasing a given speed grade, to back up my previous assertion.

"A lousy core is something Intel is stuck with for 4 more years."

LOL. And for 4 years that will be the Dan3 mantra, as AMD is scrambling to break even, while Intel is doubling, tripling, and quadrupling their share price. Funny how that lousy core is already driving AMD to a huge loss this quarter (besides what the terrorism attacks are going to do for the whole industry).

"Particularly in servers and workstations, there is a lag between chipset availability and system availability."

A much smaller lag for Intel systems, though, since Intel has OEMs that support them (with a big desire to get new systems out and available). The lag for AMD servers is essentially infinite, until they can get OEMs besides Rackserver, Alienware, and Boxx Tech to carry their server lines. Those three combined probably don't account for 1% of the server market. Where are AMD's long lost OEM design wins?

"Good example, Motorola is going from 400MHZ to 1.6GHZ+ in their transition from .18 copper to .13 copper/SOI."

Thanks for saving me the trouble of looking up your quote. You've just proved that your claims are as wacky as I thought they were. .13u SOI's gonna take AMD to 4.8GHz+, right (4 * Palomino launch speed)? ROFLMAO.

"leaks about early samples are fairly widespread."

<sarcasm> Right... in typical AMD fashion, all initiatives on brand new products are kept under the utmost secrecy. No press releases are to be seen, but the good 'ol AMD fanworld has the latest scoop! </sarcasm>

Reminds me of all the rumors of Palomino beating the January deadline, and coming as early as October, 2000. He... maybe history will repeat itself, and Hammer will be delayed for three quarters like Palomino. And why not? It's already been delayed for nearly that long already. Except this time the delay is official, and not by the seat of the pants.

LOL, Dan. I love arguing with you. It's all too easy! :)
