My impression is that phase one of this "war" is to demoralize the Taliban using US and UK forces, cut off their weapons supply from Pakistan and let the Northern Alliance (only 50 miles outside Kabul) over-run them. That will push out Bin-Laden (if he didn't run already) and he won't have any friendly regimes left. Replacing the Taliban will be popular with everyone except the Russian mafia and Pakistani smugglers. I suspect Iraq is implicated in this too and they will be next on the list. But cleverness rather than brute force is called for.

As for Netanyahu, the charges against him were outrageous and politically motivated by the Labor Party. However, Netanyahu is maybe a little too hawkish on this. His personal experience with his brother's death at Entebbe is one of his motivators. Don't get me wrong, if I lived in Israel I would have voted for him, my brother voted Netanyahu and then Sharon.
