Regarding the grounding of planes by FAA, I agree with the move because:

- there's a big difference between an accident and a well-coordinated attack.

- because the attack was done by an apparently large, pervasive group that has substantial backing of capital

- because it's easiest to catch criminals sooner than later, when they are still in the aviation system, when it is closed to catch them

- side note: CNN reports that it may have involved people on the 'inside', involving airline caterers.

- because $1B (loss in airline revenue) is essentially the cost to catch potential criminals that were in the Aviation system and this pales in comparison to potential loss

I do think grounding FAA planes was a wise move. It gave a chance to maximize the capture of potential criminals and collect potential evidence.

That in no way means I think we should bunker down and stop enjoying life or stop doing things. That would be counter productive.
