What about taxation without representation? Remember the Boston Tea Party?

There was nothing religous about that.

Now we settled the New World to get away from religous persecution.....at least the pilgrims did.

And the War of Independence from England?
- Freedom of Religion.

nara.gov

The war was not about religion at all; it was about freedom from tyranny and the right of the colonists to have a say in their government. The British King treated the colonists as little more than subservient vassals, with no rights (in fact far less than other British subjects, who had a voice through the British Parliament) or influence vis-a-vis taxation, war-making, legislation, law enforcement, regulation of commerce and relations with foreign states. As a result, the above was declared. Great Britain did not accept it, and war ensued.
