a reason why government screwing of the gold markets could now become "official policy"?

Pre-attack trades reviewed
By William Drozdiak , Washington Post
BRUSSELS -- The president of Germany's central bank said Saturday there was mounting evidence that people connected to the attacks in New York and Washington sought to profit from the tragedy by engaging in "terrorism insider trading" on European stock and commodity markets.

Ernst Welteke, head of the Bundesbank, said a preliminary review by German regulators and bank researchers showed there were highly suspicious sales of shares in airlines and insurance companies, along with major trades in gold and oil markets, before Sept. 11 that suggest they were conducted with advance knowledge of the attacks.

A very selective interpretation of my posts! Knee jerk heroics refers, of course, not to the firefighters and rescue workers, but to the puffery of posters like you who question the courage of others.

Well you're a little younger than me, a little taller and a little heavier! Maybe we live very close to each other. We also have a mining background. And both live on a farm in Ontario. I have 4 adult children, 8 grandchildren. one of my sons is in an office tower in a large American city and is becoming increasing anxious following a series of false alarms in recent days. (not sure what you mean about your pilot son? Unless your twisted logic leads you to believe that I took any joy in anything that happened on 9/11 - a little sick of you don't you think?)

I'm on one enemies list _ I guess you'd be on another kind of list. But then I don't think the people who keep me company are inclined to make lists. In fact it would not surprise me to find that g_t, AH and some others are trying to interest 'the authorities' in what they consider to be a list of subversives. If that seems paranoid - I wonder what the point of the list is? Certainly it is a veiled threat.

I'm always suspicious of people who question other people's partiotism, courage, etc. Some of these folks are like the wizard (of Oz)- little guys hiding behind a curtain with a megaphone. Except one of the guys - who's a gal.
