Air Canada here used to be a govt owned airline. then it got privatized...you can buy shares in AC...now they are asking for help here too...thing is, they fly to some parts of canada that perhaps no other airline would, or would at a reasonable rate...i can see some merit in the govt ensuring that its people can get to the outposts that are part of the country... yes subsidizing the overall foolishness is incorrect and will/has backfire(d), but i think the govt is in too deep already. i just saw a guy on cnn who suggested the us will go for another 40 billion... of course he thinks it is now time to buy, so what does he know <g>
