<< Robert there is nothing personal in this. >>

There is to me. I do have some controversial views, and I have been attacked many times before on SI. But, I very seldom take any debate personally. That is until you started calling names and until you started falsifying my views.

Attack what I say. Attack my views, if you want. Use strong language, if you want. I respect that type of debate. But, don't try to prove your point by lying about my views, or calling me names, unless you want to make it personal. And, that's OK too.

<< I am a liberal to the core but I utterly despise the turn to statism that the liberal movement took. >>

This makes no sense. There are all flavors of views, in this country. There is a large conservative view, a large moderate view, a large liberal view, and then extremes both on the conservative and liberal sides. Even moderates have combinations of conservative and liberal views. There are moderates that are pro-life and moderates that are pro-choice. You try to paint everyone as having the exact same point of view. This is impossible and is nonsense.

<< To me liberalism means the concept of freedom of mind action and belief. It embraces reaching out to discover and embrace truth. >>

This is a very rare description of liberalism. Do you mean that conservatism "doesn't try to discover and embrace truth"? Does this mean that conservatism doesn't have "the concept of freedom of mind action and belief"?

<< I despise Robertson and Falwell as they represent an assault on rational thinking ... >>

I agree with you on this. See. We can find mutual ground without insults. But, please, don't tell me later that I support Robertson and Falwell, or make up anything else about my views.

Ron, I really liked your words. I call myself an Extreme Liberal.
You have provided a good definition of an Extreme Liberal.

"To me liberalism means the concept of freedom of mind action and belief. It embraces reaching out to discover and embrace truth.
TO conserve is then to hold on to a truth that has been discovered that is valid. The mind must always remain ready to challenge a truth that has been accepted in the light of new evidence."

I do not despise Robertson and Falwell, I believe that they have a view and their belief is honest. I think they miss some of the true teachings of Christ. But Robertson and Falwell live what they believe. But some of their mindset can lead, be stretched by, the more simple minded down a path to evil deeds in the name of God.

I do despise liars and cheats and those who are shameless and disrespectful of good people. I find the ultimate extreme of evil those who have attacked other individuals up close and personal and lie about it. Rape is an obscene hate crime as evil as any racial or religious attack.

But thanks for a definition that I call the Extreme Liberal.
