I will trust the President and the Congress until they pass a measure that goes over the line. That has not happened yet. The Congress and the administration have been mindful of the civil liberties issues. I hope it stays that way. That is my only concern, not what HAS happened, but what MAY.

This will turn out right, as long as it doesn't become overly politicized. Clean, clear, military clarity - identify, find, target, and terminate. But we should absolutely not characterize this as a war against Afghanistan, or a war against Iraq. That has played into the hands of the Arab radicals who want to make this a West vs. Islam fight. We should destroy Al Queda and replace the Taliban, preferably by Afghani ground action by the opposition groups so as not to allow it to be spun as a US INVASION. That would catch us in the Russian and British dilemma.

And you're right. We should target Hamas and Hezbollah. And every other Islamist radical group that threatens us with their religious fanaticism.

Did you watch 60 minutes today by chance? Good segment on Arab self-delusion. It's amazing how some muslims can expound a motive for the crime, and even identify the role of the martyr in their society and its encouragement of violence, and in the same breath deny that any muslim could have done such a thing as happened on September 11th. The mental blockage must be incredible...
