I would expect no less a simple minded (despise interpretation) observation from you J_F. Today if I used the word crusade in an informal discussion I would not automatically think back to "The Cursades"

I would use the term to mean A vigorous concerted movement for a cause or against an abuse.
or
crusade n 1: a series of actions advancing a principle or tending toward a particular end; "he supported populist campaigns"; "they worked in the cause of world peace"; "the team was ready for a drive toward the pennant"; "the movement to end slavery"; "contributed to the war effort.

I will grant that in the President used the word and I expect he regretted it. I do not believe at all that the president intended to use the word as meaning a Christian war on Islam.

I believe observer article totally lies about what our President has said and his intentions.

But I expect your despise of the President mind bo think exactly life the observer writer.
