Hi Roebear. Pakistan is a VERY shaky "ally" for sure.

It's my understanding a large part of the Taliban is made up ethnic Pakistanis. And that a large and very militant minority of southern Pakistan is strongly pro-Taliban and virulently anti-American. Saw a report from a major US correspondent in Karachi over the weekend and it's a scary scene for any Americans there.

The current Pres of the country is hardly a flower child and has been under sanctions for awhile. But, the cooperation he's offering to the US puts him and his cabinet at high risk of being murdered and replaced by a pro-Taliban government that will declare war on us!

If Pakistan is as important to us as I've been hearing from our political and military leaders during the past weeks, we may have to clean the vermin out of Pakistan very soon !
