John: Excellent Article. I wonder what year's earnings Mr. Whitman is basing his calculations on. It probably is best to use 2 years forwarding (completed). In Dell's case it will be 2004. So at $16.50, if you want a p/e(2 yr. forward earnings) of 10, they need to make $1.65. I don't think so.
But the company has other sound values. So I would say it is a nice bet buy now(if you have the money) and take 20% profits.

'Perminent Impairment' - a good measurement to look at. Word is that business travel will never be the same. But how long will these lessons last. Will management control the impulse to splurge at the first signs of recovery? Will they instead invest heavily on video conferencing, home office, and telework? Time alone will tell.

PS: I looked at the multi-screen graphic card manufacturers you suggested. I will call them tomorrow to see whether anybody has solutions for me.
