VECO has a good cash position if they can continue to maintain profitability. I doubt that will happen in light of the stock's action before Sept 11, 2001.

I think there are better buys despite the fact that VECO has higher earnings expectations and therefore a lower PEG than any other semiconductor capital equipment stock we follow. I believe that just like when we were wondering why CMNT was falling last year that there is a reason for VECO to have been weaker than it should be.

In addition each day that our country does not show success fighting against terrorism is another day the market could fall further. Take a look at this monthly chart of the SOX. Considering the economy must be in recession and that the semiconductor book-to-bill fell last month I think the SOX could fall to 250 or below.

Hope I am wrong. As you know I expect a rally if we find Osama bin Laden and show success against terrorism and terrorists in general.
