You're right. The post (inadvertantly) seemed to indicate that this was something they just did. I know you didn't mean it that way. I have nothing but respect for anyone of conscience - you have to ask yourself how strongly you feel about anything to do that to yourself.

I don't think the Buddhists burning themselves in Saigon promoted any increase in the pro-War feeling by some Americans at the time (assuming you are talking about the one's during the Viet Nam war.) To that end, I don't think anyone can deny the impact of their acts.
