OT: Frank, re: L3

For years I attended physiotherapists and chiropractors seeking relief and got some; but the ache remained. Then I bought a book, from a physiotherapist, as it happened, titled "Treat your own back" by Robin McKenzie of NZ. An absolute godsend!

This was THE exercise which put me upright and relieved the pain 98%. Stand straight up, lock your knees, and lean back, gently, and feel the stretch in your back. Hold for 10 seconds then relax, and repeat 10 times. The same thing is practiced lying on the floor, on your stomach. Raise yourself onto your elbows and hold for 10 seconds. Lower yourself, GENTLY, to the floor after a hold of 10 seconds. Repeat 10 times. As you improve, you can raise yourself from your hands, arms outstretched, rather than from your elbows. But start at your elbows first.

Good luck!

Cheers,

DJ

Hi Frank,

It's interesting to me that we have media information available on the SAS operatives not far from Kabul. On the surface, one could conclude that letting a naive Western citizenry in on a secret about an intelligence operation already so close to Kabul would be quite reassuring. However, further investigation has led me to conclude that this forward listening post is actually most likely within territory controlled by the Tajiks (Northern Alliance), or in a no man's land not under Taliban control.

There's a very interesting book on the use of the media that was recently discussed by the author, John R. Macarthur, on a CNN segment. It will behoove us to be aware that under an information embargo from the military, any and all information presented to the American public about ground and air operations in theatre must be taken with a grain of salt. We simply won't be getting un-spun and unvarnished truths until well after the fact. Here's the Macarthur book:

Finally, squirt transmission is a term I'd not heard before. But "burst" transmission is something I'd conclude would be nearly an equivalent and is common parlance in the field, AFAIK. Corrections welcomed.

Best, Ray
