Sam,
Those bad guys are getting very nervous. Our response is taking too long. They didnt expect this. They were prepared for of a couple of symbolic air strikes that would kill thousands. Everyone knows the Americans cant or wont take casualties. But it is different now.
And although there is no talk of overthrowing the generals in Pakistan it is implicit in the bin laden communique. It is not lost on the leaders of Pakistan. They have made their choice and the Pakistan army is not chopped liver. mike

Bin Laden issuing fatwas makes about as much sense as Satan issuing Papal encyclicals.

I found this definition of fatwas interesting:

i-cias.com

Excerpt: "It is vital that a fatwa is not based upon the muftis or lawyers own will and ideas, he must render it in accordance with fixed precedent."

Sounds like our buddy Osama is going straight to Hell on that one.

The following site is a source for fatwas, and appears to show how mainstream Islam regards September 11th:

fatwa-online.com

The links on the top of the page are all very interesting.

Here's my favorite quote, one with which I wholeheartedly agree:

"Islaam should not be judged based on the acts of sinners."

Lest anyone think that these people are just saying what they think America wants to hear, note that they show no hesitation at criticizing our support of Israel.
