US rushing cave busters

WASHINGTON PLANS using new generation cave busters to fight terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden who is understood to be hiding in Afghanistan along with an estimated 3,000 to 5,000 loyalists supported by Taliban who would try to take advantage of the mountainous region in the event of a US attack.
In no mood to leave any stone unturned during the possible attack to nab Bin Laden, wanted 'dead or alive' by the US, troops likely to participate in the attack are being armed with latest weapons systems and technology, including GBU-28.

Quoting intelligence sources, the New York Post newspaper reported that Bin Laden's loyal fighters have left their camps and may now be dispersed in an extensive network of mountain caves and tunnels, known as "karez," throughout rugged southern Afghanistan.

Pentagon is rushing to complete development of new cave busting "earth penetrator" bombs to locate the fugitive and routing him from the hideouts, the Post said. GBU-28 weighs 2000 pounds, and the latest modified version of the so called "bunker busters" was used in Persian Gulf War, the paper said.
