What about The Senate Armed Services Committee that pressed Gen. Richard B. Myers on the readiness of American forces, noting that forty minutes elapsed between the strikes on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and yet no fighter jets were at the ready to defend the Pentagon from the third terrorist suicide mission. Meyers concurred that readiness must improve.
