Berney Shaw famously said his first duty was to report the news, even before his duty as an American Citizen. That's simply crazy.

It's not a real risk, as the experienced correspondents have no reason or want to endanger the lives of troops.

I think that some reporters could careless about the lives of the troops or the historical archieve. They are just plainly after the story. I know a couple of reporters and they are all alike. They want something they can publish... News reporting is also a job and the reporting business is just as vicious as anyone else.

Reporters follow leads and do not worry about the ramifications. It is just the story that counts.

Example: During the Vietnam War, some reporters could have careless. They would hear something like an operation that found a town and got into a bit of gun fire and the reporters would publish the operation was to find and kill American defectors working with the enemy in Laos in this certain town. When in fact the operation should not have even been talked about because it gave up the military position. SO for history the world believes it is a mission to kill defectors when the fact was it was a mission to blow up a bridge and disrupt traffic on the Ho Chi Minh trail to interfere with the Vietcon's supply chain. But by releasing the exact location the Vietcon knew the position of the recon.

If the news gives up military positions of our troops I find that to be horrible ethics.
