I do Ken, and as you know I think the thread is great--you make it easy to read the NYTimes & Washington Post, and of course tekboy is an invaluable asset.

Still--I might as well conserve my energy. I just feel a bit regretful about it--I'm the only woman posting frequnetly here, and it really needn't (shouldn't?) be an all male forum. And though many have far greater foreign policy expertise than me, I have indeed seen some terrible areas of the world up close, and seen some of the forces of history firsthand. So I feel a bit regretful that people are so defensive of what seems to be excessive nationalism. Admitting your flaws takes strength, and courage, and would make the people of this country better for it. For example, in a sense the Taliban have finally offered terms--I mean, for a "war" this has been bizarre, as there was no negotiation, nothing on the table to fight over. They now tell us what will stop terrorism. Even if they are an exceptionally cruel bunch, we might as well consider why they are saying it.

Anyway, I'll lurk for awhile.
