Dear Sonki: OK, will try. I am of course up, I AM ALWAYS UP, but sometimes I lose patience with CNBC as the play hide the pea with their guest lineup to keep you watching. JDN

Dear Sonki: I watched Scott on CNBC this am. If you slept through it I dont think you missed much. The old FIRE seems to have gone out of Scott. I felt the interviewers were somewhat aggressive and a little hostile in my mind. The salient points he made that I noticed were.
1. September has always been the most important month in this quarter (1st) as in Europe July and August were sort of sleepy times with many on vacation and all. We all know what happened in Sept. so most likely this qtr. is toast (although he didnt say that)
2. Scott no longer makes predictions but Short Term likely poor, Mid Term Murky but he is still very upbeat Long term and gave his reasons why. Says he is trying to hold the company together employee wise etc to be ready to address the long term. Didnt say it like that but thats my interpretation.
3. Cash position very good (6 Billion $$), using very little and even with small operating loss could possibly generate positive cash flow. Debt levels low.
4. Sees IBM as their only remaining serious competitor. Didnt seem concerned about CPQ/HP etc etc.

Thats about it, he didnt get the opportunity to discuss the newly released line etc. JDN
