It's not simply a question of the past or next 12 months.

The basic nature of the market can be defined by the complex and continually changing balance between "strong" (well financed) and "weak" (over leveraged) players.

A lot of excellent books have been written about market dynamics. The terminology I chose is just one of many good ways to talk about market trends and trend changes.
