Did it ever occur to you that you were being subsidized by overly cheap capital in the first place??

If they could have made a profit serving your needs (and those of your preferences) -- the service would still be there.

That the 2 companies had to go out of business from lack of capital was sad

LOL! Try the lack of a sound business model. The fact that these guys got as much money as they did is the sad story of the era.
