redemocracies are not all they are cracked up to be
I don't know about NZ but the U.S. was not SUPPOSED to be a democracy, it was SUPPOSED to be a LIMITED republic. There is a HUGE difference. Democracy has given us income taxes, zoning regulations, limits on private property ownership and limits on the second amendment, etc etc etc. So you wont find me advocating democracy!!!! It's just a way of saying that people can vote to steal what's Joe's and give it to Jim.

But I stand corrected on Tieneman square: I have never been to China and I only know what I read and we both know that is a good source of lies a lot of the time!

I do agree that other cultures must move towards whatever freedom they are going to allow in the manner they see best, it isn't the U.S.'s job to tell them how. But it also is not the U.S. job to police, bully , aid or support anyone else either!
Has NZ backed away from fiscal responsibility and high taxation? I thought it was moving towards that but have since heard it is backing away. If so, that's sad. We in the U.S. are overspending like crazy, governmentally speaking.
