Good point George. The $ based Asian mkts were the weakest

HK whose currency is directly connected to the US $, certainly should have rallied. But an early rally failed and it closed down 74 pts.

And the 2 nations most dependent on the US for security, Korea and Taiwan were hit hard. Taiwan down over 1% and Korea down 2%.

Found this comment from the HK url above particularly interesting.

`We believe there will be further downside in the market because of uncertainty over if the U.S. will declare war and how long it will last,'' said Vincent Koo, a director at Kingsway Fund Management Ltd. ``

Many conservatives have pointed out the importance of a formal declaration of war by Congress as an official confirmation of our absolute commitment to defeating terrorism. Apparently, there are those overseas who also doubt the resolve of some of our politicians This is not good.
